Company Overview: Headquartered in Newport News, VA., Triumph Aerospace Systems - Newport News is an industry leader in the engineering and manufacture of complex aerospace hardware and prototype systems for ground test and flight applications. The company has four primary business areas: Propulsion Systems; test rigs and components (fans, compressors, turbines); Aerospace Systems; prototype and test hardware (fixed wing aircraft, rotary wing aircraft, missiles); Marine Services; prototype, test and build medium- to highly-complex ship components and systems; Test Services (turnkey test and evaluation) and Field Services (technical and management services to NASA and DoD). We have been employed in the development of nearly every domestic fixed-wing aircraft, missile, and helicopter system. Triumph Aerospace Systems - Newport News provides design, analysis, manufacture, instrumentation, assembly, integration and test capabilities. Field Services are an extension of our comprehensive technical capabilities. On-site engineering and technical services, such as operations support, are provided to government and commercial customers. In composite materials, we develop and implement unique fabrication methodologies such as core forming and machining as well as the fabrication of complex composite structures. We support global aerospace programs such as the Airbus A380 engine for Rolls-Royce, the Joint Strike Fighter engines for Pratt & Whitney, and Infrared Suppressor technology for the US Army to protect helicopters operating in hostile environments such as Iraq and Afghanistan. We also have played a big part in the International Space Station. Turbomachinery/Propulsion Triumph Aerospace Systems - Newport News designs, manufactures, instruments, and assembles complex aero-propulsion rigs and prototypes. This includes all components of industrial and aerospace gas turbine engines, from inlet systems to exhaust systems. These test systems are extremely complex, requiring disciplined systems engineering, control of tight part tolerances, and very close attention to detail in all phases of the rig activity. These rigs and prototypes support the development and transition of advanced technologies into original equipment manufacturer's products through the cost effective, rapid prototyping environment which we maintain in-house. Aerospace Systems Our expertise is resident in a wide variety of fixed wing and rotary wing models, full-scale test articles, and flight-qualified components and systems. The “models” component of this expertise includes virtually every type of test model system used in the aerospace industry: aerodynamic force and moment models; loads and pressure models; inlet and exhaust models; cryogenic and high temperature models; flutter and dynamic models; and rotary-wing models and rotor test stands including rotor blades, hubs, and drive systems. In addition to its aerodynamic models, Triumph Aerospace Systems - Newport News is highly regarded in producing full-scale radar cross-section (“RCS”) models which require high fidelity fabrication expertise, usually in a restricted proprietary work environment. We have produced these models in support of nearly every major commercial, civil, and defense RDT&E fixed wing and rotary wing program for four decades. Our quick-response, rapid turnaround component production capability is evidenced in its work in the War Against Terrorism. The U.S. Army frequently procures rapid turn-around add-on components for its operational rotor craft. Marine Services Shipbuilding has reached levels of sophistication which require greater engineering discipline and manufacturing effectiveness. Cost consciousnesses demands innovation and control to ensure success. Our experience supporting aerospace OEMs has given us exposure to these forces at work, and how we can use them to offer real-world ideas and actions to help you succeed. Because of the natural cross-over, we have been asked to participate in past efforts to manufacture Deep Diving Apparatuses, Special Operations Submersibles and countermeasure Drones for organizations like, NAVSEA, Northrop Grumman, and USSOCOM. One prime example of large-scale component production capability at Newport News in a non-aerospace application is a current subcontract to Northrop Grumman. This effort involves producing gearboxes for the main throttle valves on the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier fleet and began when we completed four prototype units for testing. Field Services/Test and Evaluation Triumph Aerospace Systems - Newport News maintains a highly trained and experienced staff of analysts, engineers and technicians enabling providing on-site support as well as a turn-key test and evaluation process. Force Measurement Systems (FMS); Our FMS Group resides in a new facility in San Diego, California and provides strain gage, balance, and calibration services for high precision applications. Bearing Test Rig; Obtained through a CRADA (Cooperative Research and Development Agreement) with the Air Force Research Lab at Wright Patterson AFB, Triumph’s Bearing Test Rig resides in the Newport News, VA facility. Locations: Newport News, VA San Diego, CA Huntsville, AL, Cheshire, CT Number of Employees: 160 Services: Engineering, complex component fabrication, instrumentation and assembly; engine rigs, ground and flight test prototypes, unmanned air vehicles, wind tunnel testing, field services, and aerospace component manufacturing.
