Triumph Fabrications - San Diego was formed as Wilpac Manufacturing in 1946 by the joining of two industrial neighbors Rolland P. Packard and John W. Wilson. With their one small rope driven drop hammer and assorted other equipment these two pioneers started making exhaust systems and manifolds for radial engine powered aircraft. This led to their becoming the licensed manufacturer and distributor for exhaust systems for the Douglas DC3 aircraft. In the late 60's aggressive marketing campaigns took the company into new sheet metal applications such as; cowling, tail pipes, scrolls, plenums, augmenters, heat exchangers and ducting of all types. New products were introduced to include seats, wing fittings, and engine mounts. Through the years, ownership of the company has changed several times and in November 1999 the company was acquired from PerkinElmer (AKA EG&G) and made part of Triumph's Components Group.
